NIO ET9, a showcase of cutting-edge technology, is priced at 800,000 yuan

NIO ET9, the flagship sedan of Chinese electric vehicle maker NIO, was officially launched on December 23, 2023. The car is priced at 800,000 yuan (about $130,000) and is scheduled to start deliveries in the first quarter of 2025.

ET9 is a large luxury sedan with a four-seater layout. It is equipped with a number of cutting-edge technologies, including a fully-autonomous smart chassis, a 900V high-voltage architecture, a low-resistance battery, a self-developed 5nm intelligent driving chip, and a vehicle-wide operating system.

In terms of exterior design, ET9 features a split-headlight design and a long wheelbase of 3,250 mm. The car is equipped with 23-inch wheels and a floating logo. In terms of body size, the length, width, and height of the car are 5324/2016/1620mm respectively, with a wheelbase of 3250mm.

In terms of interior design, ET9 is expected to feature a four-seater layout with a central bridge that runs the length of the cabin. The car is also expected to be equipped with a 15.6-inch AMOLED central screen, a 14.5-inch rear display, and an 8-inch rear multi-function control screen.

In terms of power, ET9 is powered by a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system with a combined output of 620 kW and a peak torque of 5,000 N·m. The car is equipped with a 900V high-voltage architecture, which allows it to charge from 10% to 80% in just 15 minutes.

The ET9 is a major technological showcase for NIO. The car’s fully-autonomous smart chassis, 900V high-voltage architecture, and low-resistance battery are all leading-edge technologies that could help NIO to compete with established luxury brands in the Chinese market.

640kW Supercharging

At the launch event, the 640kW all-liquid-cooled supercharging pile was also officially released. It has a maximum output current of 765A and a maximum output voltage of 1000V. It will start to be deployed in April next year.

Fourth-generation battery swap station

The fourth-generation battery swap station will also start to be deployed in April next year. It has 23 slots and can serve up to 480 times per day. The battery swap speed is reduced by 22%. In addition, in 2024, NIO will continue to add 1,000 battery swap stations and 20,000 charging piles.
