On February 25, BYD Yangwang U9 officially launched, with a new car price of 1.68 million yuan (~US$240,000). As a representative product of Chinese supercars, the Yangwang U9 will be equipped with the YiSifang and Yunnian-X technologies, with an acceleration of 2.36 seconds from 0 to 100km/h. The official also proposed the concept of “street-friendly, track-friendly, and playable”.
Let’s take a look at the new car. Its appearance still adopts the “time and space gate” design language, and the interstellar travel headlamp shape is very recognizable. The overall lines of the front of the car are full of power, and the impact is very strong. Of course, as a supercar, the Yangwang U9 also has a very rich aerodynamic design. It is reported that the new car is equipped with 6 sets of body wind tunnel layout and 12 sets of main and passive aerodynamic kits to meet the needs of high-efficiency heat dissipation, ultra-low wind resistance and high downforce.
From the side, the new car adopts a water drop-shaped shape to reduce wind resistance. It is worth mentioning that it is equipped with an integrated monocoque carbon cabin, and with CTB technology, the torsional rigidity of the whole vehicle reaches 54425N·m/°, and the lightweight coefficient of the body reaches 0.95. In addition, the new car also adopts a butterfly door opening mode, equipped with Pirelli P ZERO series tires, with wheel sizes of 275/35 R21 for the front and 325/30 R21 for the rear. The length, width and height of the body are 4966/2029/1295 (1338) mm respectively, and the wheelbase is 2900mm.
Coming to the rear, the Yangwang U9 is equipped with a large-size carbon fiber fixed spoiler, which adopts a gooseneck design, with the bracket fixed at the upper end of the spoiler. The rear surround has a very exaggerated diffuser design, and it also has a horizontal active spoiler. When retracted, it can increase the downforce of the rear axle, and when opened, it can reduce the wind resistance. The new car is available in three exterior colors.
In terms of interior, the new car adopts a wraparound cockpit design. There is a large vertical screen in the middle, which is built-in with rich car-borne Apps. Below the screen is a knob and physical buttons with a screen, which can be used to conveniently operate the vehicle settings. The three-spoke steering wheel is wrapped in leather material, and there is a full LCD instrument panel in front of it. The interior is also available in three colors.
It is worth mentioning that although the Yangwang U9 uses bucket seats, it still shows a sense of luxury by splicing leather and suede. At the same time, it also retains the functions of electric adjustment, heating and ventilation. In addition, the car is also equipped with 127-color atmosphere lights, 12-speaker Dynaudio sound system and mobile phone wireless charging, etc., to meet the needs of daily driving.
In terms of power, the new car will be equipped with a four-motor system. The maximum power of each of the four motors is 240kW, the total power is 960kW, or 1,306 horsepower, the peak torque is 1,680N·m, and the peak speed is 21,000rpm. The acceleration from 0 to 100km/h is 2.36 seconds, the acceleration from 0 to 400 meters is 9.78 seconds, the top speed is 309km/h, and the test result of SIC (Shanghai International Circuit）is 2:17.65. The maximum charging power of the dual-gun supercharger is 500kW. The Yunran-X intelligent fully active vehicle body control system takes the fusion control of horizontal, longitudinal and vertical directions as the core, and is equipped with air springs and dual-valve shock absorbers to help the Yangwang U9 realize actions such as three-wheel driving and four-wheel jumping.
