Jiangling Motors is the abbreviation of Jiangling Motors Co., Ltd. (JMC), and it is also an automobile brand of the company. The company was developed from the Jiangxi Automobile Manufacturing Plant established in 1968. In 1997, Jiangling and Ford successfully launched “Transit”, the first Chinese-foreign joint development car in China.
In the mid-1980s, JMC took the lead in manufacturing Isuzu cars by introducing the latest international truck technology in China and became a major light truck manufacturer in China. In November 1993, it was listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange and became the first listed company in Jiangxi Province. In 1995, it was the first in China to introduce Ford Motor Company in the form of ADRs to form a strategic partner.
