Update: On November 28th, Luxeed S7 was officially released, featuring four models: Pro, Max, Max+, and Max RS, priced at 249,800 to 349,800 yuan (~US$34,950 – US$48,941) on the Chinese market. All versions except the entry model (Pro) will be equipped with the HUAWEI ADS intelligent driving assistance system. The feature is expected to be gradually launched in different cities in China starting from Q4 this year. The unmanned parking assistent Beta will gradually open in cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Chongqing, Suzhou, and Dongguan in the first quarter of 2024. At the press conference, the official also showcased the industry’s only unmanned parking assistance function, which can achieve smooth parking in tight spaces without human being operated.
On November 9th, the first model of the Huawei and Chery‘s cooperative brand, Luxeed S7, was officially unveiled and will be officially released on November 28th. The new EV will be offered by four models with a pre-sale price starting from 258,000 yuan. As the first sedan in Huawei’s Smart Select business, the Luxeed S7 is built on the EOX new energy platform, which is on the same platform as the EXEED Strerra ES from Chery. It is featured with the Huawei Tu Ling intelligent chassis and HarmonyOS 4 intelligent cockpit for the first time, and is equipped with the HUAWEI ADS 2.0 advanced intelligent driving assistance system. The acceleration time for 0-100 kilometers is 3.3 seconds, and the pure electric range exceeds 800km.
In terms of appearance, the new car is positioned as a pure electric mid to large-sized coupe and offers both regular and sports kit. Luxeed S7 features the all-new OneBox design, with a relatively simple design language for the front face. The C-shaped headlight group and bra-type light strip make it highly recognizable. In addition, the front bumper of the new car is equipped with relatively large trapezoidal ventilation openings, creating a certain sporty atmosphere. It is worth mentioning that the model with a sports kit version has a more aggressive design compared to the regular model, which is more in line with consumers who pursue personalization.
At the side of the car, as a coupe, the roof lines of the new car are very smooth, and the side body lines are also very simple. The overall visual effect is quite good. In addition, the new car is equipped with Brembo brake calipers and lightweight dual five spoke wheels, further optimizing the vehicle’s performance. We can also see that in the roof area, the new car will be equipped with LiDAR.
In terms of the rear, Luxeed S7 is featured with bar-type tail lights, and there is a design similar as a ducktail on the rear compartment lid. The lower surround does not have an exaggerated diffuser design, but the segmented chrome trim adopts a suspended design. In terms of body size, the new car has a length/width/height of 4971/1963/1474mm and a wheelbase of 2950mm.
In terms of interior design, Luxeed S7 features an innovative yacht cockpit design, with the difference being that it is equipped with a pure flat front deck, which makes the information in the navigation area more intuitive. At the same time, a pure flat platform is formed in front of the passenger seat, which can be used as an office desk and can also be opened, serving as an exquisite dressing table. This design is indeed very avant-garde.
Specifically, in terms of layout, Luxeed S7 is equipped with a 12.3-inch full LCD instrument panel and a new olive shaped sports steering wheel, making it more responsive and unobstructed, it is inspired by Formula 1. And it is equipped with a large-sized central control screen, features HarmonyOS 4 car infortainment system, and has a more intelligent voice assistant. The intelligent voice assistant “Xiaoyi” is also connected to the Huawei Pangu AI, helping novice drivers quickly locate and solve problems. At the same time, it is also equipped with functions such as Nearlink, the new generation of wireless transmission.
In terms of intelligent driving, Luxeed S7 is equipped with the HUAWEI ADS 2.0 advanced intelligent driving assistance system, which integrates perception and intelligent algorithms to achieve high-level intelligent driving without relying on high-precision maps, making driving safer, more comfortable, and convenient. Yu Chengdong, Chairman of Huawei Intelligent Automotive Solutions BG, also mentioned on site that AEB is just a small function, this is just the tip of the iceberg for this car, and there are still many functions that haven’t been opened yet.
In terms of configuration, the Smart S7 co driver offers zero gravity seats, a hidden cold and warm refrigerator, dual 50W wireless super fast charging, three 66W super fast charging, and heated/ventilated front and rear seats.
In terms of power, Luxeed S7 offers single motor rear drive and dual motor four-wheel drive options, equipped with the new generation DriveONE 800V silicon carbide golden power platform, using front AC asynchronous motor and rear permanent magnet synchronous motor. The maximum power of the rear drive version of the motor is 215 kW (292 horsepower); The four-wheel drive version has a comprehensive power of 365 kilowatts (496 horsepower) and a peak torque of 679 N.m. The official acceleration time from 0-100km/h is only 3.3 seconds, and the braking distance from 100-0 km/h is 33.5 meters.
In terms of battery life, Luxeed S7 adopts the Huawei “Giant Whale” 800V high-voltage platform, equipped with the industry’s thinnest 800V high-voltage battery pack, with a thickness of only 117mm. The battery comes from CATL, and the specific capacity has not been disclosed. However, the pure electric range under CLTC conditions exceeds 800km, and the comprehensive power consumption per 100 kilometers is only 12.4 kilowatt hours. In terms of charging, Luxeed S7 is equipped with Huawei super charging, which increases the range by 200+km in 5 minutes and 400+km in 15 minutes of charging.
