Bordrin Motors Debuted Its First All Electric SUV – Bordrin iV6, Range Reaches 379miles

At the 2019 Shanghai Auto Show, Bordrin Motors’ first five-seat medium-sized electric SUV, Bordrin iV6, officially opened for pre-sale, with a pre-sale price range (pre-subsidy) of RMB 250,000 – 350,000 (~US$37,126 – US$51,977). The new car was officially debuted on April 11th 2019. It has a slip-back design, the overall shape is very round. It has a maximum range of 379miles (610km) under NEDC. The new car will be delivered in 2020.

Bordrin iV6 adopts a relatively simple style in design language, the lines are very smooth, the front face adopts a closed grille, equipped with a far and near light integrated LED headlights, while the turn signal lights has “flowing” effect.

The waistline on the side of the body is slightly tilted forward, which matches the shape of the hatchback to create a certain sporty sense. Body size 4,700mm/1,905mm/1,640mm, wheelbase reaches 2900mm. It is reported that the drag coefficient is as low as 0.27.

The interior design of Bordrin iV6 also adopts a simple style. No physical buttons can be seen on the center console. The central 12.3-inch multimedia touch screen has a good resolution. The lower air-conditioning panel adopts the touch operation mode. In addition, the gear lever is a column shifter.

In terms of power, Bordrin iV6 will be available in single/dual motor versions, which are two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive models. The two-drive version has a combined maximum power of 120kW, a maximum torque of 300N.m, acceleration time of 0-100km/h of 8 seconds, four-wheel drive version has a maximum power of 230kW and maximum torque of 550N.m, 0-100km/ h acceleration time is 5 seconds. The official said that the standard battery life (two-wheel drive) NEDC cruising range is 329miles(530km), the long range version (two-wheel drive) is 379miles (610km), and the performance version (four-wheel drive) is 375miles (605km).

Bordrin iV6 will support fast charging 50% in 30 minutes, it will also support both fast charge and slow charge, two-way charge and discharge, mobile reservation for charging.

Bordrin iV6 is the first pure electric vehicle launched by Bordrin Motors. The new car is positioned in the mid- to high-end intelligent electric crossover SUV. It adopts the original electric i-MP platform and will be the benchmark Tesla Model Y. According to the official introduction. Regarding to infotainment, Bordrin iV6 is equipped with 10.25″+12.3″ dual LCD screen, it will support voice control, mobile remote control, integration with payment, navigation, charging, entertainment, wireless upgrade system.

It is worth noting that Bordrin iV6 will be equipped with “L2+” – level autopilot technology, such as: 14 driving aids, 360-degree surround view, the 0-150km/h full-speed adaptive cruise, automatic parking system.

Engineers build cars: born out of technology suppliers

Dr. Huang Ximing, President of Bordrin Motors, graduated from the Virginia Institute of Technology in the United States. He entered the Ford in the United States in 1995 and worked on the design and development of vehicle performance. He left Ford to return to China in 2007. On August 11, 2008, Huang Ximing established Cotech Automotive Engineering Corp. and AVL, which is mainly engaged in automobile engineering and vehicle development. It has carried out dozens of Chinese independent and joint venture OEMs including BAIC, GAC trumpchi, FAW, CHANGAN. Chassis platform design and development, chassis tuning, vehicle performance development adjustment, CAE analysis, NVH test development, chassis design, smooth ride test development, parts testing and other engineering and technical consulting services. Other executives include Bao Yimin, technical director of the former FAW, and Zhang Zhiwei, a battery expert.
The two companies have designed and developed vehicle chassis design and vehicle performance for several OEMs, such as Hongqi(FAW), BAIC Motor, SAIC Electric Vehicle, and Fisker Karma.

In addition, the core team members of Bordrin Motors are also an “engineer team”. For example, Bao Yimin, who is in charge of vehicle performance tuning, is a mechanical doctor of the University of Kentucky in the United States. He also worked for Ford in US. In 2012, he returned to China as the technical director of FAW. Zhang Zhiwei, who is in charge of EIC system. is a Ph.D. in Electrochemistry at Case Western Reserve University in the United States. He is the former vice president of SKC North America and has led the development of several battery technologies and battery plants.
