ICONIQ MUSE Concept Car on 2019 Shanghai Auto Show, will carry L4/5 Autopilot

Another Chinese EV startup won car manufacture qualification. Recently, Tianjin ICONIQ New Energy Automobile Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “ICONIQ”) released news, cooperating with Tianjin Jinghai District Government, Tianjin Baili Machinery Equipment Group Co., Ltd., ICONIQ signed a contract for the transfer of equity in Meiya Automobile.

Meiya Auto Manufacturing Co., Ltd. was established at the end of 2003, it is a complete vehicle manufacturing company under the Tianqi Group. The company’s business scope includes the development, design, manufacture and sale of automotive and component products (excluding car), as well as import and export business. With the signing of the above share transfer agreement, it also means that ICONIQ won the automobile production qualification. According to ICONIQ, in the future, the company will use Meiya Automobile as its manufacturing base and take the Jinghai headquarters project as the leader to comprehensively construct and integrate the entire industrial chain of new energy vehicles.

ICONIQ Seven II Concept Car at 2019 Shanghai Auto Show

According to the company’s official introduction, ICONIQ was founded in 2014 and released its first product at the Qatar International Auto Show in 2016 – the high-end pure electric MPV ICONIQ seven series. During 2019 Shanghai Auto Show, ICONIQ launched the new model of the seven-series concept car, the ICONIQ Seven II.

The company previously planned that the first product, the ICONIQ seven series, will be officially launched in 2019 and replaced in 2026. It will launch two new models based on the ICONIQ seven-series platform in 2021 and 2022 respectively. In addition, the official said that its level 5 automatic driving model will also be unveiled in 2020, and listed in 2023. Regarding sales, the official said that it will not adopt the sales mode of traditional 4S stores in the future, but will build more experience stores.

In addition, it is worth mentioning that ICONIQ also signed a memorandum of cooperation with Magna Italy and Turin Auto Studio to carry out in-depth cooperation on the design and development of intelligent driving vehicles in mid-July this year.
