Several patents of Huawei Technology revealed on CNIPA, one of which is an automatic driving method and device. The application date is December 27, 2018, and the application publication date is July 10, 2020.

Recently, Huawei’s self-driving operating system kernel has obtained ASIL-D certification for vehicle safety. Analysts said that Huawei’s autonomous driving adheres to the car-road collaborative route and mass production coming soon.

The patent abstract shows that the embodiments of the present application disclose an automatic driving method and an automatic driving system, which are used to determine an automatic driving strategy based on the user’s historical driving behavior data and current environmental data, thereby achieving safe driving.

In May this year, during the Huawei 2020 Global Analyst Conference, Huawei released the White Paper on Autonomous Driving Network Solutions. The white paper recommends L4 (highly autonomous driving network) as the staged goal of future architecture.

In May of this year, Huawei announced that Huawei’s autonomous driving operating system kernel has obtained ASIL-D certification for vehicle safety and functional safety, becoming the industry’s first commercial OS kernel to receive dual security and safety certifications. Huawei said that this is a major business development of Huawei in the field of smart car solutions business, which can provide Huawei with high safety competitiveness and market access capabilities in smart connected cars and other scenarios.

Research Report from ESSENCE SECURITIES shows that Huawei’s autonomous driving adheres to the car-road coordination route and mass production is coming soon. Huawei’s autonomous driving business is deployed in the cloud and fully empowers automakers to upgrade their autonomous driving technology. Tesla and Huawei are the two important heads of the intelligent connected car industry chain and have a strong industry-leading role. Huawei’s positioning as a smart network technology partner for car manufacturers will inject strong technical capabilities into Chinese car manufacturers, which is particularly important for the development of the domestic smart network vehicle industry.

In fact, Huawei has a long history of entering the automotive field. In 2013, Huawei launched the in-vehicle communication module ME909T for car and entered the IOV industry. In May 2019, Huawei officially established a smart car solution BU to implement a strategy for smart connected cars. For Huawei, the business of operators, enterprises, and consumers is relatively mature. Huawei is also constantly looking for new incremental services. The automotive sector is one of the options.

In April 2019, Huawei’s rotating chairman Xu Zhijun said that Huawei does not build cars and has never invested in any company to build vehicles. Based on ICT technology, Huawei has become an incremental component supplier for intelligent connected vehicles. This is also Huawei’s clear positioning in the automotive field.

In September 2019, Huawei’s consumer business CEO Yu Chengdong said that Huawei’s HiCar ecological partners have partnerships with more than 30 automakers in more than 120 models.

It is reported that this evening, BYD Han equipped with many cool technologies such as Huawei HiCar, 5G, and mobile phone NFC car keys will be officially listed, and Yu Chengdong will also be on site.
