News on March 16, this afternoon, Li Auto (Formerly called Lixiang Auto) officially revealed the appearance of the startup’s 2nd all new EV (range extended) Lixiang L9. The car will debut during the 2022 Beijing Auto Show, price range is expected to be at a range between 450,000-500,000 yuan(~US$70,875 – US$78,750). In terms of power, an extended-range power system based on a four-cylinder engine will be used, and the cruising range can reach 1,200km. Officials says that this car is positioned as a “global smart flagship SUV built for families”.
Officials have now revealed that this model has a CLTC cruising range of 1,200 kilometers, a pure electric battery range of 200 kilometers + gasoline 1,000 kilometers; it is equipped with hidden door handles, as well as a 5G car infotainment system, AR HUD, a small steering wheel screen, and car refrigerator that can hold two milk bottles box, etc.
Lixiang L9 has 6 microphones and 3D ToF sensors in the car. With the self-developed multi-modal three-dimensional space interaction technology based on deep learning, it will interact in the car in the most natural way for humans.
In addition, in terms of smart configuration, the new car will be equipped with smart driving services, including super smart parking, urban smart driving, car remote call, smart driving, and OTA upgrades. For intelligent driving, the car will have L4-level conditional autonomous driving hardware, including AP controller Horizon J3+J5 chip and SP controller customized Orin-X chip, one 128-line LiDAR, one DMS, 5 millimeter wave radars, 12 ultrasonic radars and 12 unit of 8M cameras. It is worth mentioning that Lixiang L9 will also be equipped with German Weybach air suspension.
Like the company’s first model Lixiang One, L9 is again a range-extended EV, it will be powered by a 1.5T four-cylinder engine with Miller cycle for charging the battery (not for driving), with a thermal efficiency of 40%. The driving E-motor is from Great Wall Motors’ Honeycomb Power (Chinese “蜂巢动力”), a battery pack with a capacity of 44.5kWh, and a 65L fuel tank, The comprehensive cruising range under CLTC conditions will reach 1,200 kilometers, and 200 km in pure electric driving under CLTC conditions.
