On April 26, GAC Trumpchi EMKOO was officially released, and also announced its Chinese name “影酷”. The new car is a compact SUV based on the GPMA architecture. At the same time as the new car was released, GAC Trumpchi also officially released the new brand name of hybrid technology – Mega Waves Hybrid (Chinese says “钜浪混动”). Trumpchi EMKOO will be the first SUV equipped with Mega Waves Hybrid GMC2.0. In the future, GAC Trumpchi will continue to launch Trumpchi EMPOW and Trumpchi M8 models equipped with Mega Waves Hybrid. In addition, Trumpchi EMKOO plans to be officially launched in 2022, and will be launched in Southeast Asia and the Middle East in 2023.
The Trumpchi EMKOO concept car was unveiled during the Guangzhou Auto Show last year. It is the representative of the GAC Trumpchi XEV+ICV technology route and the product of the “hybrid + intelligent” dual-core drive development strategy.
Trumpchi EMKOO is expected to be mass-produced in October this year and listed in November.
According to the plan, by 2025, GAC Trumpchi will realize the hybridization of all models; by 2030, GAC Trumpchi will strive to account for more than 60% of the sales of hybrid vehicles. To enter the hybrid market, both the EMPOW Hybrid and the M8 Hybrid will arrive this year.
Different from all the models currently sold by the brand, Trumpchi EMKOO adopts an industrial aesthetic design, the front face is borderless, and the overall structure is in a V-shaped direction. It is worth noting that the front face also supports the lamp language function, and the visual effect is quite surprising. The segmented design of the headlights is also very impactful.
The highlights of the rear are particularly rich. The top is an exaggerated spoiler, and the middle is a high-level brake light with a delicate shape. The tail lights pour down from the top along both sides, and the diffuser is arranged at the bottom, and the four-outlet exhaust is very conspicuous on both sides, coupled with the overall tough lines, the sense of movement and technology is well shaped.
The interior design of the car is not particularly exaggerated, but pays more attention to details and texture. The floating central control screen have a built-in ADiGO 5.0 intelligent driving interconnection ecosystem and be equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chip, which can support multi-mode interactive experience. Below is the air outlet of the air conditioner, which is inspired by ancient Chinese scrolls and has a unique flavor. Crystal pure electronic shift mechanism, enhance the sense of space. The door adopts a new paddle opening method, and the door can be opened only by flipping the lever on the armrest of the door panel. The seats are sporty, and the audio system comes from Yamaha.
In terms of power, Trumpchi EMKOO will provide fuel and hybrid versions. Among them, the fuel version provides the combination of 1.5TGDI engine + 7-speed wet dual-clutch gearbox, and the 2.0TGDI engine + Aisin 8-speed automatic transmission. The hybrid version uses GAC’s fourth-generation 2.0ATK engine + GMC2.0 electromechanical coupling system, in which the engine thermal efficiency can reach 42.1%.
